Muito bem, este é o último comentário da noite sobre as eleições presidenciais na França. Estão comparando a vitória de Hollande (com cerca de 51,7% dos votes) à de Mitterrand em 1981 (que teve 51,76%)… O problema é que o mundo à época, assim como a própria França, eram bem diferentes… Será difícil a Hollande promover o socialismo e o bem-estar social nos moldes do fim do século XX neste início de século XXI. Quem viver, verá…

Ok, that’s the last comment of the night about the elections in France. Many people are comparing Hollande victory (with 51,7%) to Mitterrand’s first election (51,765) in 1981. However, it is not a good idea to make this kind of comparison… The world that time was very different from our days, as well as was France. I think that it will not be easy to Monsieur Hollande to promote social and economic changes to keep the socialism alive (and the French welfare state) on this early new century.

Pois é, M. Sarkozy! Será que terá que conversar com Mme. Le Pen para faturar essa no segundo turno? Certamente, este não era o resultado esperado ou a situação almejada pelo senhor presidente da República Francesa há pouco mais de um ano… Afinal, o principal adversário, Dominique Strauss-Kahn esta fora do páreo… E a intervenção na Líbia, em curso, deveria desviar a atenção dos problemas domésticos e resultar em um vitória que angariaria muita popularidade!… Infelizmente para Sarkô, a coisa não saiu como planejado… Hollande e os socialistas vão bem, obrigado (em tempo: não gosto nem nunca gostei dos socialistas ganhando eleição na França nem em qualquer outro canto!)…

Sinceramente, acho que o fantasma de Kadafi está assombrando o Palácio do Eliseu…

Le Pen voters to arbitrate Hollande-Sarkozy duel

PARIS (Reuters) – Far-right voters may decide who becomes France’s next president after anti-immigration crusader Marine Le Pen’s record first-round score jolted the race between Socialist frontrunner Francois Hollande and incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.

The centre-left Hollande narrowly beat the conservative Sarkozy in Sunday’s 10-candidate first round by 28.6 percent to 27.1 percent, the Interior Ministry said with 99 percent of votes counted, but Le Pen stole the show by surging to 18.0 percent, the biggest result for a far-right candidate.
