Até entendo que o Premier do Katar se diga “chocado” com os vetos russo e chinês no Conselho de Segurança da ONU no que concerne às medidas mais enérgicas contra a Síria… afinal, trata-se da típica “retórica árabe”, da qual nós ibero-americanos herdamos parte de nossa demagogia e das bravatas nos discursos (não estou criticando a retórica árabe… isso faz parte daquela cultura).
O que me surpreende mesmo são analistas ocidentais se dizendo “assustados” com a decisão de Moscou e Pequim frente ao regime de Damasco! Afinal chineses e, sobretudo, russos, são aliados tradicionais dos sírios e dariam um tiro no pé questionando o regime autoritário de Assad… Ademais, com tudo que já está passando no Egito, mudanças na Síria afetariam drasticamente o equilíbrio de poder na região… Melhor que Assad permaneça no poder… melhor para todos!
Russos e chineses deram seu recado: estão participando do jogo e têm peças para mover no tabuleiro! E não vão permitir a queda de regimes como o sírio e o iraniano por pressão ocidental ou “revolucionária” (ao menos não por agora)…
E por falar em mudanças… como está a situação na Líbia após a queda de Kadafi? E nos outros países que passaram pelo Levante (ou Primavera Árabe, como queiram…)???
Está o Egito mais democrático, rico e estável? Melhoraram as condições de vida da população? De fato, pouco mudou para a maior parte das pessoas que vivem nesses países no último ano… E nada há com que se surpreender ou com que se chocar…
Arabs exploring four options, says Prime Minister

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, who heads the Arab League Ministerial Committee, said he was shocked by the veto and wondered what ‘interest’ this veto (objection to implementing the above draft) would actually serve.
“We worked closely with the UN Security Council to reach a formula that would be fair and satisfactory and would address some of their (the Council’s) concerns as well,” the Premier told Aljazeera Arabic Channel late on Monday.
Asked pointedly if there was any move to boycottRussiaandChinadue to their stance on the Syrian situation in the UN Security Council, the PM replied in the negative and said there was nothing of that sort on the agenda.
Exhorting fellow Arabs to take concrete action rather than merely issuing statements, the Premier said four options were being explored to dissolve the Syrian imbroglio.
He, however, refused to disclose the options saying that they should be discussed with fellow Arabs first.
The PM said that time factor was crucial as regards the Syrian crisis, adding that as it was 11 months had been wasted in the hope that the imbroglio would be resolved amicably.
“Contacts within the Arab world are being revived on the Syrian issue and there are several ideas to be put forward…At the same time, the opinion of the international community on the issue is also being explored.”
Meanwhile, the website of Qatar’s foreign ministry quoted the PM from the same interview as confirming that the meetings (a reference to the meeting of GCC foreign ministers and the meeting of Arab League and the Arab Peace Committee on the Syrian issue to be held inRiyadh) had been put off until Sunday.
“There are reasons for the delay, but how long can we keep on postponing such meetings,” said the PM.

Os resultados de uma revolução demoram muito a aparecer. No Egito ou em qualquer outro país do Oriente Médio ainda há muito caminho a ser percorrido, os resultados da Primavera Árabe não vão surgir de um dia para o outro. A Revolução Francesa não foi apenas a violência dos primeiros meses mas sim um processo que avançou com muitos percalços, até chegar às modernas democracias. O Oriente Médio “deu a largada” para contestar a legitimidade de ferozes ditaduras, no Egito continuam os protestos e é ótimo que continuem. Em outros países há movimentos feministas se organizando. Até no Irã há dois gupos feministas que, à custa de muitas prisões e até de tortura, têm conseguido tênues avanços. O processo é dolorido para todos mas prorrogar as ditaduras não me parece que seria solução para ninguém, muito menos na Síria, onde a barbárie do Assad é muito evidente.
