Alguns analistas já estão assinalando o Mali como o Afeganistão da África (em alusão ao país asiático quando esteve sob o controle do, argh, Talibã). A situação está verdadeiramente caótica por lá… não há governo… refugiados morrem de fome por todos os lados… a violência impera e a Al-Qaeda espreita em busca de novos recrutas… Enfim, tem-se ali violência que vai gerar muito mais violência…

The military coup and ensuing fighting in Mali has resulted in the deterioration of an already bad situation in Africa’s Sahel region. Islamist extremists have gained the upper hand in northern Mali and now control Timbuktu. Al-Qaida and other militant groups now have free reign across vast swaths of Africa.
